What is earthing (grounding)?
Grounding, also called earthing, is a therapeutic technique that involves doing activities that “ground” or electrically reconnect you to the earth. Grounding refers to the practice of direct contact with the Earth. This is simply walking around barefoot, lying in the grass or on the beach, or swimming. Doing this connects us with the natural electrical charge of the Earth.
But why would someone want to do this?
Connecting with the Earth’s natural electrical field helps to balance the electrical charge within our cells. Through grounding, the natural defenses of the body can be restored. Sound a bit woo-woo? There is a growing body of scientific research on the benefits of grounding/earthing. Though the research is still emerging, studies suggest that grounding and earthing may offer powerful positive benefits.
